Just a quick post to make you aware of a handy tip when you are sealing your kitchen worktops, bath or basin.
Make sure the surfaces are very clean, apply the silicone getting it right into any gaps. Make sure that there are no holes in your application, then, here's the handy bit...
Before you smooth off the silicone, spray it with a soapy water solution (we have a bottle in the van at all times), this will stop the silicone from spreading. Then use a rubber spatula or your thumb to scrape off the excess and smooth it along the join. You can get a really great finish using this method.
Again, make sure there are no holes in the application as the soapy water will penetrate and ruin the bond. Also, if you take off too much silicone don't try to put more silicone over the top while it's wet - for the same reason.
